Delegation to Cairo

Palestine Hospital, Cairo

Tuesday 22nd October 2024

Today we visited injured Palestinians who have been recovering from injuries sustained from the war in Gaza. They are currently getting medical treatment at the Palestine Hospital located in Cairo.

The Palestine Hospital is managed by the Palestine Red Crescent Society and is one of five hospitals in Egypt treating the injured and wounded from Gaza.

Founded by Dr Fathi Arafat

We were given a tour of the facilities. The Palestinian Hospital was built in 1975, by Dr Fathi Arafat, the brother of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to provide medical services to the Palestinian community in Egypt, including those displaced from Palestine.

Sadly much of the infrastructure is outdated and the hospital lacks necessary facilities and infrastructure to meet the growing demand on its services.
