Orphan Stories
These are some of the stories of the Orphans who have escaped from Gaza. Many children we saw have multiple scars and injuries.
In Cairo they face severe difficulty and economic hardship. The children are unable to enrol in local Government schools and they are dealing with physical and mental trauma since fleeing the war in Gaza.
Mohammed, 7
Mohammed was standing at the door of his house with his sister Sarah. At that moment, an Israeli plane dropped rocket shell and Mohamed was directly hit in the head.
The injury cause severe wounds to his head. It caused a fractured skull and a brain haemorrhage. Due to the injury, Mohammed lost his ability to speak. After a month of treatment he began to regain his memory.

Youssef, 12
I was sitting with my family in our house. The house was bombed with 6 rockets while we were inside.
My father, mother and brother were all killed. Also my uncle, his wife and children were all killed.

Razan, 6
Razan suffered horrific injuries when the Israeli military bombed her uncle’s home in Gaza.
She is now partially blind in the left eye and has shrapnel still inside her left arm.

Maryam, Mira and Miral, 5
Maryam, Mira and Miral are 5 year old triplets. A bomb went off after Isha adhan and Maryam suffered minor physical injuries.
Her dad Hasan was fatally wounded and died. I can only thank Allah for keeping the children safe.

Ayman, 11
At only 11, Ayman’s already lost family members to the violence in Gaza. His family’s displacement to Cairo has been tough.

Nour, 10
Walking through the crowded halls of the hospital in Cairo, we met Nour, a 10-year-old girl whose home in Gaza was destroyed.
Her eyes told the story of shock and loss. Despite everything, Nour remains hopeful, and the simple gift of a toy brought a smile to her face.
